Queensland Week is a time to celebrate our state's people, places and achievements and what it means to be a Queenslander.
There are a lot of great ways to celebrate Queensland Week. Here are some ideas for events you could organise in your community.
Queensland Week BBQ
Host a Queensland Week BBQ in your local community.
Invite your local Rotary or Lions club to provide a sausage sizzle or BBQ or provide it free of charge with guest chefs. Ask your local Member of Parliament, Mayor, councillors and local sporting identities if they'd like to be a chef for the day.
Include free entertainment from local musicians, including school bands and choirs, local dance troupes or professional musicians. Rides and activities for children, such as face painting or crafts, can add to the fun.
For information on how to host a Queensland Week BBQ phone the Events Coordination team, Department of the Premier and Cabinet on 07 3405 5215 or email events coordination.
Moves and Grooves
Get active and try something different during Queensland Week by hosting free Moves and Grooves workshops.
Workshops can include dance lessons and demonstrations such as Swing, Latin or Bollywood or other activities such as drum workshops, karate lessons or Tai Chai.
