E-Petitions

Petitioning is one of the traditional forms by which citizens can make requests direct to the Queensland Parliament. A petition is a formal request signed by at least one person and placed before the Parliament with the object of persuading the Parliament to take some particular action. For example, a petition may request the alteration of the general law or the reconsideration of some administrative decision.

You can now petition the Queensland Parliament online via the internet. You can post and lodge petitions to the Parliament as well as "sign" a petition without having to physically locate it. Full details are available on the Queensland Parliament website.

e-Petitioning is one of the Government's three e-democracy initiatives, together with the Internet Broadcast of Parliament and an online community consultation trial.
